Customer industry:
Large-scale production of battery boxes for high-voltage storage systems in the German automotive industry

Project specification:
The customer wants a machine for measuring (probing) and milling raised weld seams on battery boxes for high-voltage storage devices. Two different types of these battery frames are processed. The machine is integrated into a production line and equipped using robot technology.

Solution from SIRtec:
Manufacture of a portal milling machine in a special design. It is carried out with two clamping stations (1 x top, 1 x bottom).
The profile height of the battery box is measured by an optical triangulation sensor. A motor spindle carries out the machining of the MIG weld seams.
The machine is loaded parallel to machining in order to reduce non-productive times.

Customer benefits:
The customer integrates the portal milling machine into the processing line so that battery boxes can be processed in 3-shift, fully automatic operation with a technical availability of 98% for a German automobile manufacturer.
